Start with the available sources
A Wikipedia readiness assessment begins with what reliable sources have already published about a person. A polished biography and a long list of achievements do not establish whether an encyclopaedia article is appropriate. The assessment needs to examine the coverage itself and the guidelines that apply to the subject.
English Wikipedia's biography guideline generally looks for substantial treatment in reliable secondary sources independent of the person. It also includes subject-specific considerations. A responsible assessment explains how the available material relates to the relevant guidance and makes room for uncertainty. It should be possible for the answer to be that a biography is not currently appropriate.
Examine coverage at the source level
Build a table of the strongest material with the publisher, author, date, original address and a short account of what it covers. Open the full text wherever possible. A mention in a list gives a different amount of information from a reported profile. An interview needs to be examined for its own editorial content and context.
Group copies of the same announcement so they are not mistaken for separate reporting. Mark the subject's own website, employer material, contributed articles and paid placements clearly. The practical question is whether the available record provides enough reliable context for a neutral account of the person without filling gaps through promotional claims.
Read the possible article without a promotional brief
Imagine a short account built only from the strongest sources. What would it cover? Would it explain the work for which the person is discussed, or would it consist mainly of job titles and announcements? Are the sources describing the person's contribution, a business they work for or an unrelated event in which they were mentioned?
This exercise often identifies missing context more clearly than a numerical source target. There is no useful agency shortcut in promising a fixed number of articles without examining their substance and relationship to the subject. Keep the assessment tied to specific sources, identify weaknesses explicitly and avoid treating a preliminary opinion as an editorial decision.
Understand disclosure and control
Wikipedia's conflict-of-interest guidance addresses contributions connected to a person's employer, client or other relationships. Paid contributors must disclose relevant paid relationships. An adviser should explain the applicable process before any contribution is considered, including how proposed changes can be raised transparently for independent review.
The Wikimedia Foundation also explains that paying someone does not give a client ownership of an article. Other editors can change or remove material, and an article may contain relevant information the subject would not have chosen for a personal biography. Any assessment should make these practical consequences clear before work moves beyond private research.
Ask for a decision you can inspect
A useful assessment records which sources were reviewed, what they support, where independence is uncertain and which guidelines informed the conclusion. It should name unresolved issues: a source may be inaccessible, authorship may be unclear or coverage may be too brief to support the proposed scope. Those limitations belong in the output.
If the review finds that the available record is insufficient, focus on ordinary professional work and accurate public communication. Do not commission disguised coverage or artificial references to manufacture readiness. A personal website may be the appropriate place to present a complete biography under your own editorial responsibility.
- Request an assessment of actual sources before a drafting commitment.
- Expect a written explanation of uncertainty and source limitations.
- Clarify paid-contribution disclosure before any public editing.
- Reject promises of permanent inclusion or control over the article.
Use the findings even if you do not proceed
The research can still improve your understanding of the public record. It may uncover inaccurate biographies, missing source links or confusion between you and another professional. Those issues can be addressed through the appropriate publishers and through pages you control, without assuming that a Wikipedia article is the desired endpoint.
PR Drift's starting scope is a readiness assessment and a clear recommendation. We review the available sources and explain the practical boundaries. We do not promise acceptance, conceal paid involvement or represent Wikipedia's editors. Any subsequent work must respect the platform's current rules and its independent editorial decisions.
